50 Ashanti Regional Women Organizers Throw Support Behind Dr. Bawumia in NPP Flagbearer Race

Published:

A total of 50 Women Organizers and their deputies from the Ashanti Region have formally declared their support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his bid to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as flagbearer in the upcoming presidential primaries.

The endorsement came during a regional tour by Second Lady Samira Bawumia, who is engaging party stakeholders, grassroots mobilizers, and key women’s groups to rally support for Dr. Bawumia ahead of the crucial internal contest.

The Ashanti Region, traditionally a stronghold of the NPP, holds significant electoral influence, and this show of solidarity from the women organizers is seen as a major boost to Dr. Bawumia’s campaign machinery.

Speaking during the engagement, the women organizers highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities, grassroots appeal, and vision for sustaining the party’s development agenda as reasons for their endorsement. They also praised Samira Bawumia for her continued involvement in mobilizing the party’s base, especially women.

According to the group, Dr. Bawumia represents “unity, competence, and renewal,” values they believe are critical for the NPP as it prepares for the 2026 general elections.

Mrs. Samira Bawumia, in response, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, emphasizing the crucial role women play in winning elections. She reiterated Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to empowering women, creating opportunities, and driving inclusive national development.

The endorsement adds to the growing list of party groups, regional coordinators, and constituency executives who have publicly thrown their weight behind Dr. Bawumia as campaigning intensifies across the country.
