Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has broken grounds for the construction of an oncology center in Kwaso in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti region. The sod-cutting ceremony was done on behalf of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II by Hiahene of the Manhyia Palace, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II which is situated on a 52-acre plot of land in honor of the Asantehene.
The project is estimated to cost a $100 million with funding from the Breast Care International (BCI), Peace and Love Hospitals, and global partners, including Global Health Catalyst and the University of Pennsylvania, USA. The first phase of the project is expected to cost $10 million and will include a Radiotherapy suite, a Research wing, AI hub, an Education center, and Community Outreach.
The project when completed will offer services such as, Cancer Care, Prevention Awareness, Diagnostics, Research, Training, Telemedicine, Palliative Care, and Rehabilitation for all types of Cancers.
The President of the Breast Care International, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai at the ceremony stated that the Oncology Center will benefit Ghana, West Africa, and advance Cancer care across Africa.
