Former Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for Karaga, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has taken a swipe at the 2026 Budget Statement, describing it as a political tool crafted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to deflect responsibility and blame the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
Delivering the Minority Caucus’s official response on Friday, November 14, Dr. Amin Adam said many Ghanaians, along with the Minority, had anticipated a budget that would inspire confidence, provide policy clarity, and set Ghana on a path toward genuine economic recovery. Instead, he argued, the document lacked direction and substance.
“Unfortunately, it is another budget used to apportion blame to the NPP government and thus neglect the responsibility of the NDC government to the people of Ghana,” he said.
The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Finance Committee criticised the government for what he described as a pattern of grand rhetoric without meaningful policy action. According to him, the administration has consistently made ambitious promises but has failed to deliver tangible results.
“Gradually, the people of Ghana will come to terms with this government’s mastery of propagating empty slogans and yet delivering nothing,” he stated.
Dr. Amin Adam further argued that the 2026 budget falls short in outlining practical solutions to revive the economy. He said the country urgently needs productive investments, credible financing, and long-term growth strategies, which he believes are missing from the government’s fiscal plan.
